Our Approach

Our SCI Rehabilitation Program employs a unique model in line with the WHO-recognised transdisciplinary approach to spinal cord rehabilitation therapy.

Our specialised community workers follow a clear protocol, trained to assist PWDs with therapy, physical exercise, livelihood, and introducing social security schemes available to them. The program also consists of consultant psychologists, professional volunteers, medical specialists, as well as occupational, speech, and physical therapists. ‍ We offer two types of SCI Rehabilitation Programs:

Institutional-Based Rehabilitation (IBR):

Our extensive 15-week program teaches people with SCI daily functional activities like washing clothes, preparing meals, manoeuvring from a wheelchair to a bed, and more. We support social skill recovery and encourage them to be independent.

Curated for SCIs who find it difficult to avail residential programs, we collaborate with the community to help nurture and create independent and confident individuals over 8-12 months of this program.

After the completion of the programs, we conduct regular follow-ups of the participants and check their progress over the following 3-4 years.

“I received mobility aids, medical support, and learned how to regain my balance through the SCI rehab program. Thank you APD, for helping me walk without a caretaker and become truly independent.”
