WORKABILITY ASIA CONFERENCE, BENGALURU

The Association of People with Disability (APD) is an active member of the Disability NGOs Alliance (DNA), which hosted “The Workability Asia Conference 2016” in Bengaluru between 25th to 27th August, 2016. The conference was held under the theme - “Empowerment through Employment of Persons with Disabilities", and was attended by 450 participants across Asia. It provided a platform for sharing best practices, case studies and models for promoting employment of persons with disabilities. The 2 day event had various presentations and sessions under 3 Tracks – Skills Development, Enabling Ecosystem, and Mainstreaming Livelihood. This was concluded by a panel discussion session on Livelihood for persons with multiple disabilities. About DNA (http://disabilityngosalliance.org/): DNA has been founded and led by leading Disability voluntary organisations formed for enabling Disability NGOs in the state of Karnataka to work together for the growth of the Disability sector. The focus of DNA is to engage with Government, Civil Society, Corporates and social sector organizations to draw the attention on this sector and to adopt professional approaches in addressing the challenges of creating a more inclusive society that empowers PwDs and their parents.
